Project #5 Expanded glyphosate testing of off-the-shelf food products

From our science lab: It took longer than we had hoped to develop a sample prep method for glyphosate testing that would accurately handle many different types of foods, but we achieved that goal this year and are now testing hundreds of raw materials for glyphosate.

In 2020, we will be expanding our testing to hundreds of off-the-shelf food products, including fast food “fake meat” burgers, the Whole Foods food bar, children’s breakfast cereals and many organic products. Right now in the lab, we are seeing surprising levels of glyphosate in many USDA certified organic products, including wheat grass powders and organic oats. There is definitely a very worrisome contamination issue — or possibly industry fraud — that is somehow resulting in glyphosate finding its way into many organic food products.

Our goal is to expand this testing and bring you more lab-verified results for a variety of foods, fast foods, grocery items and more. The ultimate goal here is to help you avoid glyphosate exposure, of course. (Stay informed about glyphosate by reading Glyphosate.news.)
